How to Become a SHINE Volunteer
In order for a San Jose State student to become an official Project SHINE volunteer, it is mandatory that they attend a Project SHINE Volunteer Orientation. Students are usually notified of their finalized volunteer site after their completion of the Project SHINE Volunteer Orientation.
After finalizing the students for each volunteer site, each student will be contacted by their designated SHINE Site Coordinator(s).
Before students are allowed to begin accumulating their volunteer hours, it is mandatory that they complete all required forms and TB testing/fingerprinting for the site, as well as attend a Site Orientation.
In order to receive an official certificate of completion for their service to Project SHINE, student volunteers must complete their required amount of volunteer hours. If not volunteering through a class, the minimum amount of on-site volunteer hours over the semester is 20 hours.
